The shaker at the end of the bar
Out past the last gas station on the salt flats there is a diner where traders go after a bad week. They order fries, stare at the chart, and cry into the plate. The salt shaker on the end table caught every one of those tears.
Years of it. Rugs, top buys, a sell one candle before the pump. Salty soaked it all up until the shaker held more TEAR than salt. One night it crossed its arms, hopped off the table and walked out onto the flats.
